I’m a bit curious about the lack of a “nominal charge” for the update. They charged $19.99 and $9.95 for the 1.1.3 and 2.0 updates, respectively, because they account for the touch differently than [they] do for the iPhone. Since 2.1 has a somewhat major feature (Genius) I totally expected Apple to charge for it. My (completely uninformed, off the top of my head) theory: they’re accounting for the 2.0 update in the same way they do for the iPhone, so every iPod touch 2.x update will be free.
